Health from Food/Diet
Your diet, what you're eating daily,
is directly linked to your health.
The main cause to most health problems today are due to what humans are placing into their bodies.
I warn you, do not follow modern nutritionist teachings.
Their information is inaccurate, outdated, and possibly could be considered disinformation.
They're just following what they have been taught by others and they've trusted it.
They will set you up adding in foods that harm you and be totally unaware of the actual effects. Typically they will add in foods loaded with anti-nutrients and foods that are too processed like orange juice, and at the same time try to take away from you nutrient rich foods that heal you such as those high in fat.
Their approach may seem to be good when a person who follows their plan drops some amount of weight, but health and weight reduction are 2 totally different things.
Modern diets make you like a nutrient starved anorexic, you will shed weight, but your body is degrading because it's actually starving. It may not be starving for calories, but it is starving for nutrients.
Once you wake up to these simple obvious truths, you will be able to see the insanity in our society, such as when people are crying out wanting cures and healing, and at the same time talking with their mouths full of junk food that really is not food and should not be called food.
Diet is how one mostly keeps health. 1st off, you want to find your Kcalorie requirements, and eat it every single day for best results. You want to find where you maintain your current body. When you find this then you're able to make slight adjustments to tweak your body composition.
It's as critical as breathing air and drinking water.
No one doubts that if they stop breathing air that their body is going to react violently to that, and no one doubts that if they stop drinking water that their body is quickly going to react to that choice, yet millions are doubting that anything bad will happen if they stop ingesting the many nutrients that they were meant to, and may believe that their health may be only slightly better if they actually ate good and supplied it with proper fuel.
We are creatures made up of nutrients, we're made of them. We can not function unless we keep supplying them to our body.
If you're trying to slim down, then you will take a small chunk of your calories away, not too many at a time or else you can cause your body to freak out and kill it's metabolism, and also go into fat conserving and storing mode since it thinks you're at risk of not eating enough.
300 calories is a good chunk to take away at a time while being physically active.
Honestly, you may be able to get away with removing bigger chunks if your calorie count is decently high. I am just now experimenting with this to find the answer, I cut 1100 calories out of my diet to see if I can maintain my body structures while only losing bodyfat%. Update coming.
Next, it's important to be aware of macro nutrients, these are fats, carbohydrates, and proteins.
carbs and proteins each have 4 calories per gram, and fats have 7 calories per gram.
There are many different types of each macro nutrient, so it's important to learn about those.
It is a very bad idea to make up your daily calories as coming from something like purely honey. While honey in a proper dose can be beneficial to your body, over a certain amount can become destructive, and the amount is much smaller than most probably assume since they're used to sucking down sugar all day everyday with every meal.
Protein is not as significant as bodybuilding supplement sellers are suggesting, and carbs are not evil like many modern dieters are trying to claim. Also, fat does not make you obese and also give you heart disease if you eat it.
The ratio you decide on should likely have carbs as the main macro nutrient.
Healthy natural fats should also have a decent spot in your diet, your body requires these, and fats often house nutrients such as in milk. Reduced fat milk, is reducing certain valuable nutrients.
(I will add more info on these later)
Next is vitamin and mineral nutrients. You want to maximize your nutrient intake, while at the same time not ingest too many calories or else you will harm your body and it's hormones.
The way to accomplish this is to focus on nutrient dense foods. Many vegetables are nutrient dense foods, they contain many nutrients and very low calories.
An example of focusing on nutrient dense foods, brown rice vs rye bread.
Rye bread is a better choice because you're getting more nutrients, with less calories attached. Brown rice has decent nutrients but it has a lot more carbohydrates in it making it a high energy food, which is good if you're in need of carbs and calories, but not so much if you're fine on calories.
Now think of a junk food soda, these are purely energy with no nutrition, and with harmful things in them, this is an example of something to keep far away from your body.
A crucial thing to keep in mind when choosing nutrient rich foods, corporations are handling our food supply and care about profit, not optimal health.
They're methods are reducing the nutrients in our foods, and also altering our foods into unnatural states and we shouldn't consume them.
One way this is happening is unnatural raising of farm animals. Animals are being tortured which affects that animal and it's full of stress hormones, they're not allowed enough space, some are not allowed to ever see the sky or sun, some are kept in feces up to their knees and are covered in dangerous germs, they're not given much exercise to stay healthy and happy, and they're not being fed their natural diet.
A cow needs to be raised on fresh grass for the best milk, yet today's cows are being raised on things like corn and soy, which makes them sick and die. Their feeds are cheap and good at making them grow large, which is all the corporations care about.
Store bought milk is not healthy or even milk anymore. It is a junk food version of milk.
After that, stuff like milk is processed to death, and then cooked to death. Do not ingest cooked milk. Cooked milk is the reason so many people react badly to dairy. Milk naturally has lactase enzyme in it which helps the digestion of lactose, but cooking the milk ruins the lactase and then you're left struggling to digest the lactose on your own.
Another important piece of the puzzle, these nutrients sometimes have certain ratios they need to be in, or else you're harming yourself, killing yourself even.
One of the nutrients americans are killing themselves with is calcium(they ingest more calcium than most other countries, and still lead in bone and tooth loss, they're being fed false information).
If you're taking some sort of calcium supplement, I suggest you stop immediately.
You don't want to surpass magnesium with calcium, and you also need to have a lot of vitamin D from sun exposure, and have vitamin K2 in your body. Americans are not being told this, instead doctors are telling people to ingest mass amounts of calcium, and it's depositing all through their body in the wrong places.
I will write more on these ratios on the nutrient page.
Another thing about these nutrients that is easy to not realize, you can waste these nutrients by your habits.
Being stressed eats up some of the most important nutrients for us, including vitamin C.
If you have a habit like spitting, you're constantly spitting out nutrients from your body.
Sexual activities as well drains nutrients.
You want to make sure you're being smart with the nutrients of your body, and not acting like they don't exist.
Next is avoiding poisons and junk that has no business being put into your body. Harmful things stress your body and increases it's need for nutrients, and as well disrupts the fragile processes inside of your body. Some harmful things totally block nutrient absorption as well, so many Americans are even more deficient in nutrients than they could have ever imagined simply from the toxic world we're trying to live in.
Removing these stumbling blocks will increase your nutrition.
Now maybe the biggest point here for health, the world is eating indigestible foods!
This knowledge of how to eat has been removed from our modern world.
Foods contain things known as "anti-nutrients".
If you look up the nutrition facts for a grain or nut for example, you're not really going to get those listed nutrients unless you prepare that food properly because anti-nutrients in that food is going to make it to where you can't absorb all of those nutrients.
On the flip side, if you prepare that food properly, you may be able to get even more nutrients than you ever imagined you could from that food.
Humans can not digest most of what they're eating, we're not animals who can digest things like grass and unlock the nutrients contained in it.
What we have to do is let the breaking down of those nutrients happen on the outside of our bodies, and then eat the food.
We can accomplish this a couple different ways, and the main way is through fermentation.
People love their breads, oats, seeds, and nuts, but they're loaded with anti-nutrients such as phytic acid.
Gluten is also present in grains, and humans can not digest it, and when they consume it regularly it shows to damage their insides impairing digestion, and impaired digestion means less nutrients!
When you allow your bread dough to leaven however, the bacteria and yeasts break down the food for you, releasing the nutrients, and destroying the anti-nutrients.
True sourdough bread has the phytates broken down, and the gluten broken down.
This amazing thing happens best when it's naturally leavened, not unnaturally leavened like modern breads where they add in a yeast and also dump in sugar for them to eat up.
You want to grow a host of bacteria and yeasts, and have them feed on the grain to break it down for you, not just add in 1 type of yeast that will feed on added junk food sugar for awhile and then get baked.
Above is data someone recorded in a study of fermenting whole grains and the effect on phytic acid content.
The vertical line represents amount of phytic acid, the horizontal line represents the hours of fermentation at 92F.
The solid line "___" represents natural sourdough, while the dashed line "----" represents modern methods of adding in a yeast.
The studies did this and recorded the data, and it reveals after 8 hours of fermentation, the natural sourdough had virtually no phytic acid left.
I am not sure of the hydration levels and other important factors yet such as if they used a natural sourdough starter in that batch to jump-start the reaction.
This graph reveals a significant thing, the unnatural leaven even after 8 hours still contains a troubling amount of the phytic acid, and the thing is, modern bakers and methods they're taught when using unnatural leaven do not wait that long, and neither do they allow the dough to sit in 92F to increase fermentation, but they may wait as little as 45 minutes to 2 hours, and by the chart the grain contains almost the entire amount of phytic acid still.
Also, the temperature may be much lower, and many bakers when allowing fermentation over a longer period they will just store the dough in a refrigerator to retard the fermentation process.
I'm not sure if they added in unnatural sugars and other things too, which may reduce the effectiveness further of modern methods, I will try to dig up these facts and more later.
You don't have to get stuck on the 8 hours thinking that is how long you have to do it, I have no trouble fermenting mine for 24 hours at around 80F, and usually go even longer.
You may have heard hype about pro-biotics, there is truth to that hype, and leavened foods are sources of these pro-biotics.
At this point it is my recommendation that true sourdough bread be the base of your diet.
My choice is dark rye, as it is very mineral dense.
Today many people switch to diets they think are healthy, and they do get positive results from it since cutting out junk helps a lot, but they still have undesirable symptoms like bone and teeth weakening.
Another anti-nutrient in some raw foods is known as oxalates.
Modern vegetarians not being aware of the ancient ways of preparing food are at very high risks of ingesting large amounts of anti-nutrients, also those following the paleo fad tend to be at risk.Information on preparing foods naturally like this is rare today, so I am experimenting on my own and will update with directions and tips when I have some solid information. I am no fermentation expert, and just try my best.
You should not waste any time in experimenting for yourself as well.
Take an organic and pure flour, and mix it up in some water and let it just sit out for a number of days and observe what happens.
100% hydration will help increase the rate of fermentation.
That means if you put in 2 cups of flour, you put in 2 cups of water, the water amount matches the flour amount.
Also temperature increases the rate of fermentation, so a warm environment is favorable. I keep my house around 80F-84F inside, and I have no trouble with my dough leavening rapidly. I know some people actually set their AC to low temperatures like 67F, and those environments have less success with fermentation.
I have tried the starter method, it works for sure, but I find it not ideal since you have to keep the starter alive like it is a delicate pet or something, so I am currently experimenting with another ancient method I have heard of where they just prepared a dough and allowed it to sour, then before they bake it they take a small portion out and add to tomorrows batch of flour and it helps accelerate the souring process. Page for food preparation; We actually gain energy from the Earth but we must be in contact with it, this is often called Grounding/Earthing.
The term "Earthing" when typed in on the internet will yield more results for this specific realization.
Some professional athletes have been quietly using this technique for years to take themselves to a new level of performance, and beat their competition.
This energy is gained from being electrically connected to the Earth, when we touch the Earth not only do we discharge dirty electricity we are being hit with and absorbing from our environment that is affecting our body, but it is said we pull in negatively charged ions which have an anti-oxidant effect on our body.
(This is interesting since it has been shown the whole big deal of anti-oxidants comes from our body stealing negative ions from them)
Also from this Blood becomes thinned out and healthier, and many other positive benefits compared to those who are disconnected.
Simply walk barefoot on the ground to connect to the Earth.
In the past, the people who did wear shoes, often used conductive materials such as leather that still could make an electric connection(though maybe not as good as going bare foot).
It is only in recent times that humans have totally detached themselves from the Earth. They rarely even touch dirt and plants these days compared to in the past when families worked in their gardens.
You can easily stay grounded while inside with some simple gear, I do not recommend the methods where you plug yourself into the ground slot of your house.
While it is definitely the most simple method which makes people want to just go with it, there seems to be a lot of "dirty" electricity flowing through the line, so I recommend you attach yourself directly to the Earth with your gear.
I tried the ground slot of my house before, and it made me feel bad compared to being grounded directly to the Earth.
You can also install in your line a safety device so that if lightning or a power line fell on your earthing line you would not be electrocuted to death.
It is also probably a good idea to just avoid earthing in electrical storms to stay on the safe side.
Here is a small introduction to the concept, it is by the man who rediscovered the fact that we are designed to be gaining energy from the Earth;
Here is a page with different videos found from different people on the subject compiled together;
Earthing affects alkalinity in your body like many other things.
The benefits are not for you alone, but other living things benefit as well. So any living thing you are trying to take care of, let it be earthed. My plants seemed to do a lot better when I realized this and ran a small copper wire from the earth and into their containers.
