9) Alms and Charity

Matthew 25:40 "And the King will answer them, Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me"

Matthew 25:45 "Then he will answer them saying, Truly I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me"

Acts 10:4 "And he said to him, Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before Elohim"

This page will be on the subject of helping those in need.

I hope to inspire others to soften their heart, and happily give to others, especially to those in need of some assistance in this life.

Something that I would like to get others to think about, Yahushua the Messiah, the righteous son of YHWH, was not born into a wealthy family, but he was born into a poor family.
 We can see this from the verse at Luke 2:24;

Luke 2:21 "And at the end of 8 days, when he was circumcised, he was called Yahushua, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb, and when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Yerusalem to present him to YHWH, as it is written in the Law of YHWH, Every male who 1st opens the womb shall be called holy to YHWH, and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of YHWH, a pair of turtledoves, or 2 young pigeons"

If you are familiar with the commandment from the Law concerning this offering, there is actually a few options for what will be offered according to the wealth of the person bringing the offering.
YHWH did not give commandments that only the wealthy could keep, but he gave an option for the poor to offer a pair of turtledoves or 2 young pigeons and it was acceptable since that was within their means. YHWH knows the heart.

If you are unfamiliar with the word "alms", here is the Dictionary definition of alms;

Alms - Money, food, or other donations given to the poor or needy; anything given as charity.

There is a misconception that is held by some modern Christians that alms is a New Testament teaching, but there is no truth in that, YHWH taught us long before "The New Testament" to love others and help them when they need it, and his instructions about these things are contained in his Law.

Alms should go to the Poor and Needy.
That should be rather obvious, but it is important to gauge varying degrees of neediness and not turn a blind eye to those who are really struggling. For example if you read about tithing on page 8, people are giving away mass amounts of wealth to men who are not poor or needy, and those donations should rather be going towards those who would be blessed by it.

Some examples of those who may be in need of assistance are;

The fatherless.
Children who do not have their parent(s) to take care of them.
I would really like to encourage you women out there to become a mother to these children if you're able, though countries have it set up where they make profits from this and basically are selling people for a very high price, and it shows that they don't really care about getting these people in need help as quickly as possible before bad befalls them, and instead treats them like they are profitable cattle.

The handicapped.
Many souls out there are handicapped in some way, and it impairs their ability to support themselves and their family.
This can be psychologically devastating for people.

The widows.
Women who don't have a mate any longer to help them be taken care of, and the widow may not be alone in her need, but also may be struggling to take care of her children.
There are many older women who become widows and have to face different kinds of struggles from being in old age, and I would like to encourage everyone to regularly visit with widows and check up on them.
If a widow has a family that can take care of her, their family should be helping her so alms go to people who truly need it and are helpless with no close relatives.
Though of course just because this is how it should be done, does not mean that those in need will gain much if any support from close family. Love in the world is waxing cold.

If you give food to those in need, put thought into how you spend your money, do not waste money on things like canned foods. If you do your research you can feed mass amounts of people for nearly no money, compared to feeding one person for a large amount of money.
Junk food that kills you typically costs much money, while real food options that will help to sustain your health and vitality is typically much cheaper when bought properly and honestly compared.
(I say "honestly compared" because it seems to be a popular excuse for some to continue eating the junk that they love, because they claim "healthy" food that they know they should be eating is unaffordable for them, which I have found to not be true when looking at the whole picture. Though it may cost much more if they are trying to satisfy their cravings for junk with "healthier" versions instead of re-training themselves to not have the cravings for junk and just being happy and satisfied with somewhat "plain"/"bare" food that Elohim has blessed us with.)

Let me show an example that is fresh in my mind since canned soup is behind the brown rice where I shop;
(Let me insert here, I wrote this out years ago, and have witnessed price spikes, but the point still remains)

1 can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup
Price;  $2.70

Calories(energy); 180

Notes; Processed product with empty calories, meaning only energy to burn and no real nutrients, so this is actually going to pull nutrients out of the person ingesting it, promoting acidosis and a degenerative state.
Enough Sodium in 1 can to destroy the potassium sodium balance in a human and upset fragile bodily systems.

1 bag of dried brown rice

Price; $1.28

Calories; 3200

Notes; Real food with nutrients, not empty calories that will only fill you up and then poison you with a degenerative state.
(Note that brown rice does have more nutrients, but the large majority of nutrients are locked away due to phytates. For this reason the absolute best food I would recommend giving is sour dough rye bread)

Keep in mind the prices of the rice above is with buying it from a local store that has it priced to where they still make a profit on it! If you cut out middle men then the price will fall even cheaper, and if you purchase in bulk the price falls yet even cheaper!

(I'll insert info here about Kcal later)

As a quick note, people think junk food is cheaper, they also think a dollar menu at a fast food place is cheap and saving them money. Even a McDonald's Double Cheeseburger that has a high amount of calories for a dollar menu item, only has 490 calories. It would take 7 double cheeseburgers to equal the same amount of calories in the bag of brown rice, not to mention the rice has nutrients that your body use and need so you won't be intensely hungry and wildly craving because you're lacking in something, the processed food in most cases actually removes nutrients from your body to process it, so considering the processed to death dollar menu item doesn't really have real nutrients, that should make you think of it as a waste of money and not even really food.

Now just looking at the Kcalories, to get the same amount of energy from the canned soup that is in the single bag of brown rice would cost you $48.00 worth of soup..

And I am not even sure if you could eat $48.00 worth of that soup in a day because you would be consuming 39555mg of processed salt and your organs would be impaired.

Also the amount of space $48 of canned soup takes up compared to the single bag of dried brown rice is something to consider, as well as the enormous weight difference.
These factors effect a number of things which would decrease or increase the efficiency, and one that really stands out is shipping cost if you must pay to ship the goods.
Also if I was setting out on a journey to a poor area and only had so much space either in my vehicle or bag, I wouldn't want to waste the space.

I used to eat up to 5000 calories a day when I was bodybuilding and bulking due to influence of the world, and afterward discovered I could eat 1800-1900 calories a day and be vegetarian, and still body build and make gains and feel better than I ever had with enough energy to bounce off of the walls.
Then, I took it even lower, and was still feeling amazing.

So do not think that it takes very much to help someone out just because your modern society may have you eating a lot of food, that is also a lot of money.

I will not go into my "enlightenment" right here on health and diet though, I will put it on page 39 "true health".

I just want to stress the importance of understanding the difference between energy and nutrients of food.
The U.S. has an obesity epidemic making them very large, but they're also having a nutrient deficiency problem.
Just because someone is obese does not mean they're saturated in needed nutrients, and just because someone looks very thin, does not mean they're void of nutrients. Focus on nutrients mainly, and then get the energy you require.

My point is, with truth and knowledge, you can feed a lot of people to the point they are well satisfied.
You can feed two armies and sustain their life if you just want to feed them enough to get by and not be fully satisfied.

The most screwed up truth in all of this is that the U.S.A. itself could cure world hunger and there would be no more innocent children dying from malnourishment, but it doesn't, rich men in our society by themselves could cure world hunger if they truly cared, but they don't. Instead you see some certain wealthy people occasionally donating to useless con-artist charities, sometimes this even pays back into the wealthy person's pockets..
A person who is poor by America's standards in reality can feed many starving people if they are intelligent with their decisions, and not  blowing all of their money on things such as over priced convenience foods, junk foods, and junk products that they already have like a new cell phone every 6 months.

We should surely do unto others as we would have them do to us and help the hungry and miserable, but it takes more than that to solve the problem.
To "cure" starving people, the solution is not by sending them food, then you will only teach them to become dependent on being helped, which is not a bad thing but something which is normal to happen and should be expected. But when you help someone, there should also be a change in their thinking if you want to truly help them. Though do know, still yet many people just do not have the opportunities or access to things that can allow them to lift themselves up and no longer need help from another person with a heart, so do not think evil towards the poor.

If you have the option to buy $20,000 of food for a starving people, or land for farming for $20,000, the farm land should be purchased because if the people are able to work and sustain themselves they will no longer need help.

A starving person needs energy and health first to be able to work though, so strategic distribution of the money should be exercised to have enough food to lift them up, and then the extra to go towards helping set up a way for the people to take care of themselves.
(Which this is a perfect plan on paper and under the ideal conditions, but every situation is different and unique, may YHWH give us all perfect judgment!)

The absolute most important step though for all people is to repent and submit to YHWH our creator, he takes care of his own people and their needs like a father cares for his children.
So share this knowledge with those you come in contact with, and even if they perish, they can have joy and hope.

There are many lawless Christians that go out on missionary work with bags full of toxic, health compromising, man made pharmaceuticals, and feed people(often processed junk, including white rice), while influencing and making them convert to their lawless false versions of Christianity, causing them to sin against YHWH, the very one who is able to lift them up and give them life, health, and best of all, peace.

Do not fall into the same counter productive, vain, thoughtless, mindset that many mission trip leaders have.

What exactly is the mission of these modern christian "mission trips"?
If their work is damaging the physical body of the people they visit with toxic things like anti-biotics and junk food..

And if they are working to convert these people and all of their children and family they come in contact with to ignoring the Word of YHWH, which results in physical and spiritual sickness and death..

The people out telling people do not obey YHWH, and poisoning people, are out doing the work of the Satan, spreading sin and corruption, though they seem to be under the impression they are being righteous and will have a reward waiting on them..
It is truly a sad, but in their ignorance they are feeling good from their work.
They may be blessed for the good parts, but ultimately such wickedness results in loss of reward, and also the loss of many people if you convert them to a man made religion that does not honor the word of YHWH the maker of us.

If you are on the receiving end of help from others, please avoid the man-made drugs unless you make a judgment it is absolutely necessary, and please try to research if possible, and avoid the processed foods and try to only receive real natural foods that we have been blessed with by YHWH.
Doing this you are essentially putting your trust in YHWH and not in man, which the health benefits will speak for themself.
Though most of those people do not access the internet regularly or at all.

If you have been a part of these lawless mission trips, then obviously repent from working to damn other people and their entire families, and then afterward try to focus on the good things from your trip, and the nice people you met and if they had joy from seeing you. Then if possible, get in contact with the people and share with them the actual Word of YHWH, instead of a man-made tradition of not reading the bible fully and ignoring what it says.. Right your wrongs, and if you go on those trips again, do good, even if the other people on the trip with you are still sharing things of the world and not righteousness.

Do not donate to charities without understanding who they are and what they do. Check to see if they take any of your money for themselves, if they are efficient and getting the most out of your money or if they are spending your money in a way you do not agree with, or if they are taking millions of dollars to find an answer while at the same time ignoring and demonizing the truth which would prove their charity would no longer be needed.

Do not donate to cancer foundations, etc. The world knows the cause of cancer, and it's free knowledge, cancer is a business and if cancer is cured much money will be lost.
What you are really donating to and saying when you give to cancer research causes is, "I know my lifestyle is giving me cancer but I am willing to give money in hopes someone will discover a way for me to prevent cancer and still be able to eat and live filthily"..

Stop eating things that are not food, stop taking drugs that keep your body from performing the way it was designed, and lighten the load on your immune system.

You're sick, dying, and falling apart? Stop listening to men and the world and listen to yourself and what your own body is telling you.

Just as the knowledge of YHWH the one true living Elohim has been totally hidden and distorted, truth has been hidden in all areas of our life.

Proverbs 21:5 "The plans of the diligent lead only to advantage, but everyone who is hasty, only to poverty"

Make sure you are solid in your self control before you go to a needy area, or else you may instead take part in the evils of taking advantage of their neediness.
For example, in severe poverty areas, groups go to these people, and instead of helping them, they instead trade a small amount of money for things like their organs! Then they take the organ and turn around and sell it for big money in a different country.
Another example, many married women feel like they are forced into prostitution when they don't even want to do such, but feel they have no other choice to keep their children fed and alive.
This is bad on their part of course, but men should be helping these people and rebuking them, not harming them and encouraging such things and trying to keep it going on so they benefit.
Evil devouring people from all around the world prey on these vulnerable ones, we should fight against these evils, and love these needy people as if they're ourselves and our own family!
YHWH sees everything, and every work we do will be brought into judgment, whether it be good, or evil.
Do the work of YHWH, not the work of devils, and expose wickedness and corruption when you are able, this causes many of the wicked ones to cower away.
Obey the commandments of YHWH and his Messiah.

Generally, help those nearest you.

If everyone simply helped those in their own area, the entire world would have great healing.

If everyone wants to go on a fun trip and travel around the world helping other people in foreign places, then there would be plenty of needy going without help, especially those people in less known places, or places that are not as desirable to travel to.

You should be helping those in your own area to begin with, and if you are doing this you are learning how to help at a comfortable pace, learning how to recognize those who need help, gaining practice, etc..
If you do not have it in your heart to where you are thoughtful of those around you in your own area and offering assistance to those you find may need it, then you may fly halfway around the world to realize you simply do not feel ready or efficient at your task.

Please do not be like many who just want to have a vacation and trip, and look at the needy as a means of gain for them.
So many modern Christians are going off to poor areas and distributing a lot of waste, and useless things.
They make sure to take a lot of pictures and make video, and then these are posted to things like facebook albums, and video may be shown to congregations to convince them to donate money to a congregation.
Doing things for your local neighbors doesn't make as good as a facebook album as a trip to a foreign country with you surrounded by poor foreigners, also it would be a lot more obviously weird to go next door to your neighbor and had them some food and tell them to pause while you take a picture while you're handing it to them.
So many people may be looking forward to those albums a little too much without realizing, and may be in the category of doing things just to be seen by others for honor and reverence, now showing to be an example and such is fine, and you likely have to know the person's heart to know for sure, so don't judge when you don't really know, and it's best to not reveal all things to the public, as you may just be sharing to wicked people where to go to find vulnerable ones.

They spend sometimes thousands of dollars per person just to make these trips!
Then, they do not stay very long and sometimes will be home exactly 1 week from the day they left.

Beware, some of these mission trips appear to even be money making schemes disguised with the theme of "mission trip".
Some will schedule a "mission trip", accept participants who will fork over a lot of cash, they will make the trip, visit a few poor places 1 day, and another day may be totally devoted to seeing the sites of the area like it's a fun filled vacation without any cares, and then returning home rather quickly.

I just want to bring this to attention, and if you're going to spend thousands of dollars with no real intention of helping people in this foreign area, you could have just blessed those in need in your own area. Many people have neighbors who are needy and could use a helping hand, and are not even aware.

Finally, learn to share the Truth with people as you are helping them and blessing them with the blessings you have from YHWH. Helping others offers great opportunities to get close to other souls and share to them about YHWH, his word and instructions, and his only begotten son Yahushua who has redeemed us from sin and death, and we can gain everlasting life through the covenant of his blood.
It's still good to help people even if you're not even able to communicate to them, you may plant something in their heart that is a factor in leading them to YHWH, but it's best to share if you are able, and some cases you may just be feeding the enemies of YHWH and strengthening them.
Still, it is righteous to help those who need it, and what a statement it is to gracefully help even those who would stand against you, this shows a good heart.

Further Information

How to make a water well.

In our modern generations the knowledge of how to create a simple water well is being lost.
A water well can be a great blessing to people and their area, so it's a good skill to acquire.

I will share here information on how to create a simple water well.
I knew of a few sources that show how to do it simply, and cheaply, though I can not find them yet, and will add them here later.

Traveling to new places, especially those stricken with poverty, can sometimes mean you are crossing into a new world that you're not used to, and may have a much higher crime rate.

It's good to take the time to study into the threats, and be smart in your decisions.
If you're working for YHWH and have been careful to please him, then you can of course take comfort in YHWH being your Elohim, and you being his child.

Travel by motorcycle.

Travel by plane can be very expensive, though the perk is you can be on the other side of the world in less than a day's time, and you can avoid many hazards and troubles along the way.

If you are set on using a vehicle, and not just walking or using a horse, I would like to recommend travel by motorcycle if possible and it suits your mission and arrangements, and even if you didn't get to your location by your motorcycle but by something like plane, you could still rent or buy one to get around on in the new area.

Now the motorcycle will not always prove more useful, and less expensive if you took the plane to the area, and a shuttle bus may be more practical if you have a large group and a lot of luggage.
Though if you're alone or with just a few others, and plan on spending some time in the area, the bike may win out for you.

Something like a "Dual Sport" motorcycle is able to go on all terrain, roads are optional, which is something you will appreciate if you find yourself wanting to travel to an area with bad or non-existent roads.
Also, an off-road trail that is dangerous to an off-road vehicle like a jeep, can often be no big deal to the much narrower and agile 2 wheeled motorcycle.
Ruts and ditches are no problem if you have practiced riding in those conditions and know how to handle them, and you don't have much worry with getting stuck, as a motorcycle can easily be picked up and/or moved, unless you have a very heavy model and lack the strength and/or people to do such.

Depending on the model, motorcycles can get exceptionally good mileage, meaning travel costs very little.
Many people who find that they just don't have the budget to make a trip somewhere, may find it doesn't hurt their wallet if they go on a motorcycle that is set up for traveling.
Performance motorcycles should probably be avoided for this mission, as they're more for vanity if you're not racing it on a track or really planning on using that performance.
They can be very uncomfortable making riding even just 20 minutes painful, and may get less than half the gas mileage.

So if you think a bike would be compatible with your mission, then don't neglect this option, as not only will it motivate you to get out and get to those people who could use you, but it's a great experience as you get to experience the world in a way that you simply can't in a modern vehicle.

You may not be able to pack on as many things as you could fit into a car, but in some situations you may find that the ease of multiple trips makes up for this, and there are plenty of luggage options available including trailers that attach to the motorcycle.

Motorcycles also tend to be much more affordable than cars and trucks, and repairs also are much simpler and cheaper.

There are some hazards to bike riders however, such as in the event of an on-road accident, you and your passenger are more likely to be injured or killed, also things like animals running out in front of you becomes a much bigger hazard than if you were in a large 4 wheeled vehicle, most drivers are used to seeing other cars and trucks, and may have trouble noticing a motorcycle, and also they can be very inconsiderate to motorcyclists, such as them having a habit of tailing cars, and they also tail the motorcyclists when this could result in them getting ran over and not just a simple fender bender, and if the bike needs to slam on the brakes, then the car behind probably will not react quick enough.
Follow the laws and common sense, do not tail people.

The saved money with motorcycle travel can be used for your efforts to help the needy. An extra few thousand dollars can go a long way, and with multiple trips and persons, that adds up to the point you could buy farm land!

Motorcycle travel is not for everybody, and it's important to not force someone into this, but help them gain confidence and comfort in motorcycles before attempting this.

To ride a motorcycle legally on public roads, you will need all the things a car has, and you will need to go get a motorcycle permit, which requires you taking a vision test, hearing test, and a multiple choice test.
Then after so many days, you are able to go for a full motorcycle license.

Language barrier.

You can become fluent in a language in a matter of months if you do things right, so it's a good idea to study needed languages so you are able to help others and yourself on the trip.

It is almost impossible to share the knowledge of YHWH with other people, if neither of you can understand each other, you also can't understand someone when they're asking for help if you don't know their language, someone may be desperate but you're only able to throw your hands up and say sorry to them as you have no clue what they're trying to tell you, which can be discouraging to that person.

Translation software can help, but with the languages I have worked with so far, it simply does not work yet, and leaves a lot of confusion rather than understanding.
It can be useful for your studies, but don't expect it to get your complex sentences and paragraphs correct 100%.

If you find yourself caught in a situation where you don't know a language, pray to YHWH about it and perhaps he will help you and the people you are trying to communicate with.
On page 49 "Study and Tools" I will include information on language learning to help others be more successful in their studies.

Deuteronomy 15:7 "If there be among you a poor man of one of your brothers within any of your gates in your land which YHWH your Elohim gives you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, But you shall open your hand wide to him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he lacks"

Deuteronomy 15:11 "For the poor shall never cease out of the land, therefore I command you saying, You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor, and to your needy, in your land"

Matthew 25:31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne, Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.
Then the King will say to those on his right, Come you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world, For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.
Then the righteous will answer him saying, Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you? And the King will answer them, Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.
Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me you cursed into the eternal fire prepared for the Satan and his angels, For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me. Then they also will answer saying, Lord when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?
Then he will answer them saying, Truly I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.
And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life"

Matthew 25:40 "And the King will answer them, Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me"

Matthew 25:45 "Then he will answer them saying, Truly I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me"

Proverbs 19:17 "He that has pity upon the poor lends unto
YHWH, and that which he has given will he pay him again"

Acts 10:1 "At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of what was known as the Italian Cohort, a devout man who feared Elohim with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to Elohim. About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of Elohim come in and say to him, Cornelius, And he stared at him in terror and said, What is it Lord? And he said to him, Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before Elohim"

Acts 10:4 "And he said to him, Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before Elohim"

Beware of men like this;

John 12:4 "But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said, why was this ointment not sold for 300 denarii and given to the poor? He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it"
